Turn your party into a jewel by sending out invitations with such images as a bowl of beads, beads with a string and needle, necklaces, earrings, rings, and bracelets.

Use long strings of beads as garlands, and string them along the walls and ceiling. For a clever table centerpiece, fill the bottoms of clear vases halfway with beads, then place long-stemmed flowers within the vases. Use plastic toy rings as napkin holders, and jewel-toned paper tableware to complete the look.

Have ready all the materials your guests will need to create their own jewelry masterpieces: beads, faux gems and pearls, strings and needles, adjustable rings, earring clips, necklace and bracelet clasps, glue, scissors, etc. Be sure to have enough on hand for each participant to make one necklace, one bracelet, one pair of earrings, and one ring. Providing a large table in a well-lit area, covered with a white paper tablecloth, will help guests as they work to become the next Cartier.

The jewelry that guests create at this party can be edible, too. Put out bowls of Cheerios, Fruit Loops, or any other circle-shaped cereals, along with strands of licorice strings, to allow guests to make delicious necklaces or bracelets. And don’t forget the Ring Pops (they’re ring-shaped lollipops sold at most candy stores).

A circular bundt cake can be decorated with frosting and sprinkles to create a necklace cake that partygoers are sure to notice. Or, as a cake alternative, serve tasty bracelets made from doughnuts covered with frosting and sprinkles.

Goody Bags
Send partygoers home with a pretty pouch in which to place the beautiful jewelry they’ve just made. Simply take a printed cotton handkerchief or napkin, fold it into an envelope design, and place a stitch where the bottom and side folds connect. Your guest will end up with a goody bag that’s as good as gold!

Match your thank-you notes to your invitation, or choose a complementary design. Allow your child to sign her name to each note, then have her adorn them with a few faux-jewel stickers. Remember to mention what the gift was that you’re thanking the person for -- and how much your child enjoyed it!
